DEVELOPMENT UPDATES - week 2 -  Asset Creation (May 03 - 07)

3D Modelling, Lighting

Week 2 of the development process mainly consisted of starting the creation of the assets. So we could get a jump on the lighting process it was important that we created the models for the lights first so we could start that lighting process as soon as possible.  First the Chandelier was created that would more or less be a main focal point of the room and what would emit the majority of the light for the scene, once that was finished smaller wall lights/sconces to populate the wall around the edges.


3D Modelling, Staircase

The next main focal point of the room would be the grand staircase that would also house the stage for the band and all the musical instruments, the process of this began with figuring out what shape the stairs would follow whilst also being able to encompass the presences of the stage. Opting for a U shape for the stairs to essentially wrap around the stage was the option that was most visually pleasing and made the most since architecturally.



3D Modelling, Railing

Originally the railings were modelled and in place be used, though upon further use and adapting them to be used for the curve of the staircase it caused the geometry of the railing to get quite expensive and I was forced to explore different options. 

The resolution was to change the railings out for simple flat planes and bake the geometry onto the planes. Or to simple texture the planes with an opacity map, depending on difficulty/Scheduling will determine which course of action we'll take.
